Website cost in the UK: what you’re really paying for

Ask ten web designers what a website costs and you’ll get ten answers, from £300 to £30,000. For a home-improvement firm, the useful question is different: what does the website need to do, and what is one good job worth to you?

If one kitchen, loft or re-roof is worth £10,000 or more, the website only has to win you one extra job to pay for itself many times over. That’s why we focus on what wins jobs: your projects, your reviews, and a quote form that makes it easy to get in touch.

Rented website or one you own?

Many trades websites are rented for £39 to £99 a month. That looks cheap, but you never own the site. If you stop paying, it disappears, and so does any work you put into it. Our sites are yours. The care plan is optional and covers hosting and maintenance, not the right to keep your own website.

What changes the price

  • Number of pages: each service and area page takes writing and design
  • Content: whether you supply the words and photos or we write them
  • Features: online booking, finance calculators or integrations
  • Moving an existing site: redirects so you keep your Google rankings

FAQ

Questions about pricing

Are there any hidden costs?

No. The price we quote is the price you pay. Your domain name costs about £10 a year if you don’t already have one. [PLACEHOLDER: confirm domain cost wording]

How do I pay?

[PLACEHOLDER: payment terms, e.g. 50% to start, 50% on launch]

Do I have to take the care plan?

No, but we recommend it. For £99 a month we host the site, keep WordPress and plugins updated, back it up daily, watch it for security problems and make small edits. If you’d rather host it yourself, we’ll hand over everything.

Can I start with Launch and upgrade later?

Yes. Many trades start with Launch and add service and area pages as they grow. You only pay for the new pages.

Do I own the website?

Yes. It’s built on WordPress, the domain is registered in your name, and you get full admin access. If you ever leave, you take everything with you.
